''The Night The War Began''
[[Not long ago, a boy tossed and turned in bed...->A Restless Night]]
''A Restless Night''
The moon was high in the sky, its rays streaming through an open window and onto a boy lying in bed. He shivered against the chill, staring at the shadows on his walls. Normally his room was a safe haven, a place of comfort even in the dark. That night the air hung heavy around him, and he could have sworn that he heard something odd outside his [[open window]]. Eventually the faint noises became too much, and he pulled himself out of bed.
[[Did he go to shut the window?->Through The Window]]
[[Or did he go to find his parents?]]
''Through The Window''
He almost didn't notice it, but as he reached out to close the window his eye caught on movement in the courtyard. He paused for a moment, just long enough to see someone pushing [[a mass of green and gold]] onto a cart. His breath caught in his throat as he realized that someone was taking the True Agacata, and that they were almost to the gate.
[[Did he run out to stop them?->Captured]]
[[Or does he find help first?->Finding Help]]
''Captured''
Without thinking the boy ran from his room and down the stairs. His heart raced as he burst into the cool air, shouting "Stop! What are you doing?" The figure turned to him instantly, throwing some sort of glowing ball at him. He cried out and collapsed to the ground as his vision went dark. The last thing he remembered was a voice from behind him crying "Prince Longneck!" and a feeling like he was bing stretched out like dough.
[[The young Prince didn't wake up again for a very long time.->A Bleak Morning Dawns]]
''Finding Help''
Without thinking the boy raced down the hallways and corridors to his parents' room. "Mama! Papa! They're taking him away!" he shrieked as he burst through the door. Both of his parents jolted awake, rubbing the sleep from their eyes as they asked him what was wrong. He stuttered and stumbled through his explanation, tears streaming down his face as he described what he saw. By the time that he was done his parents' eyes were wide with horror and they were calling for the guards.
[[No one went back to sleep that night.->A Close Call]]
''A Bleak Morning Dawns''
The next morning, King Shush and Queen Boom had to stand in front of their subjects and tell them that both the sage that protected their kingdom and the heir to the throne had been kidnapped. The royal couple looked to each other with red-rimmed eyes as the crowd below them errupted into chaos, both wondering if they would ever see their child again. They both knew that it would take a hero unlike any other to save their kingdom and their family.

''A Quiet Night''
"Mama? Papa? Can I sleep with you?" the young boy asked as he crept into a chamber down the hall from his own.
"Of course, my sweet little prince," his mother responded. He clambered up the lavish bedspread and nestled down between his parents, oblivious to the chaos that was brewing outside. For that night the family slept soundly, not yet burdened by the war on their doorstep.

''The Green and Gold Mass''
Every child in Agacata knows the visage of the sage that brought their kingdom into being: dark green skin that blends in with the shadows of the caves that he used to live in, eyes as deep and dark as the bottoms of long-forgotten wells, and a golden aura that shines in the darkest night. So many people look up to the True Agacata, and most believed that nothing could bring it down.
''The Open Window''
This was far from the first night that the window had been open when it shouldn't have been. The bent latch had been through more than its fair share of abuse, between the fumbling of a child without fine motor skills and the tremendous force of a prize turkey that was thrown at it. The result was that the window never fully shut, even when the latch itself was replaced. The boy had collected a mountain of blankets to combat the chill, but tonight the open window would bring in more than a cold draft.
''A Close Call''
The next morning King Shush and Queen Boom stood above their people and told them of the attack during the night. Their hands shook as they faced the crowd and recounted how the kingdom had almost lost its greatest protector, and that those who had been entrusted with his safety could no longer be trusted. As the people below them errupted into chaos the two rulers looked at each other with bloodshot eyes. If the kingdom's enemies could threaten the True Agacata, how could they protect their son?
